Weldon Lee Rouse, 79, of Albertson, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at UNC Lenoir. He was born June 29, 1937 to the late Forrest and Dorothy Brock Rouse.

Weldon attended Moss Hill School, retired from the NC Department of Corrections with over 30 years of service; was a member and former fire chief with the Albertson Volunteer Fire Department from which he had retired and was an honorary member; he was also a member of the Albertson Ruritan Club, a Mason and a member of the Shrine. Weldon enjoyed helping his son with the cows and hay; his sons says he was not eligible for retirement!

Weldon was preceded in death by his son, Russell Lee Rouse. He is survived by his son, Freddie Rouse and wife, Melissa, who was like a daughter to him.; grandchildren, Russell Lee Rouse, II and wife Heather, Candice Jarman and husband Cody, Stephanie Jo Rouse, Kimberly Ball and husband David; and great-granddaughter, Willow June Jarman; special friend, Cynthia Potter. He is also survived by his sisters, Carrie Howard, Edna Smith, and Eleanor Latimer and husband, Spike; brothers, Willie Rouse, Forrest Rouse, Jr., Bob Rouse, Spot Rouse, David Rouse and wife, Amy and sister-in-law, Linda Rouse; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin and Ernie Rouse.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Albertson Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Albertson Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Grissom officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.
